Investing in Multilingual Supports

Student Grant Recipients Total: 7 in the 2023-24 school year, and students in future years

Award Amount: $250.66

Multilingual students need the opportunity to continue learning their native language(s) to have access to developmentally appropriate resources, to support their positive identity development, and their connection to culture. STARS provided 21 bilingual books in Spanish, Tigrinya, and Amharic for Ms. Martin’s developmental kindergarten classroom. Families can borrow books from the collection to read at home with students. Providing books written in families’ native languages can improve student outcomes and help students continue to develop skills in their native language. 

Investing in a classroom library will ensure access to books in multiple languages for years to come.
