1st Graders Study Marine Creatures at Seattle Aquarium

Students to observe ocean species first hand, noticing their body structures and how they use them to survive

Student Grant Recipients Total: 43

Award Amount: $709.79

Edmonds Elementary first graders visited the Seattle Aquarium in November to enrich their Plants and Animals Science Unit curriculum. STARS’ contribution lowered the cost to $5/per student.

The all day field trip gave students the opportunity to apply and extend their learning about marine creatures and how plants and animals survive. During the visit, students observed a variety of species, including marine mammals and tide pool invertebrates. Students studied their body structures and observed how they use them to survive.
