Ahoy, mateys! Gather 'round for a tale that'll shiver your timbers and warm your hearts. Thanks to a $712 STARS Grant Award, Taproot Theatre is setting sail for Edmonds Elementary with a brand-new all-school performing arts program that's sure to leave a lasting impact on students this spring.

"Buccaneer Bully: A Swashbuckling Tale of Anti-Bullying" is a play that tackles the serious issue of bullying in a way that's both entertaining and educational. Picture this: the good ship Buccaneer, led by the brave Lou, is plagued by a bully of a captain, none other than the infamous Captain No Beard. Lou and his crew must navigate the treacherous waters of bullying, both on the ship and in their own lives, as they strive to teach their captain the true meaning of being an upstander.

Taproot Theatre has crafted this performance using the Second Step social-emotional curriculum as a guide, ensuring that students not only enjoy the show but also take away valuable lessons on recognizing, reporting, and refusing bullying behavior. They'll also learn how to be an upstander, the importance of forming friendships, and the power of forgiveness.
