Using Theatre to Build Kindness and Courage at EE
A schoolwide Taproot Theatre performance helps students learn to prevent bullying and stand up for others
Student Grant Recipients Total: 303
Estimated Award Amount: $913
Students gather for a tail-wagging, thought-provoking Taproot Theatre performance that uses lovable animal characters to tackle a very real issue: bullying. In Pets, students follow Biscuit the pup as they help a friend navigate friendship challenges and a bullying situation—showing that standing up for others is the best trick of all.
The performance blends storytelling with real-life lessons around bullying, cyberbullying, and peer conflict. An actor-led talkback gives students space to reflect, ask questions, and practice strategies like recognizing unsafe behavior, refusing hurtful actions, and reporting concerns to trusted adults. This shared experience helps strengthen empathy, confidence, and a positive school culture where every student feels supported.
