Math on the Move: Science on Wheels at Edmonds

A schoolwide PacSci experience bringing interactive math learning to all K–6 students

Student Grant Recipients Total: 303

Estimated Award Amount: $3,594.34

Thanks to STARS full funding, Pacific Science Center’s Science on Wheels rolls into Edmonds Elementary for its fourth year of a full day of discovery — bringing high-energy, hands-on math learning to every K–6 student during the school day.

The experience kicks off with an interactive assembly where math comes to life in playful (and sometimes silly) ways. Students explore probability, spatial reasoning, and patterns through real-world examples—like ice cream combinations, matching socks, and puzzles that make brains buzz.

From there, learning dives deeper with interactive exhibits and grade-level workshops led by PacSci educators. Younger students explore symmetry, scale, and chance through stories and games, while older grades tackle pentomino puzzles, code breaking, geometric solids, and even fractals found in nature. Every activity is designed to spark curiosity, encourage problem-solving, and help students see that math truly is everywhere.

By bringing this experience directly to campus, all students—across all grades—get equal access to high-quality STEM learning that builds confidence, creativity, and excitement around math.
