Wild About Learning: First Graders Meet Local Animals

Students explore animal adaptations and habitats through a hands-on museum experience

Student Grant Recipients Total: 54

Estimated Award Amount: $1,219

First graders go “wild” for science during an Imagine Children’s Museum that brings their animal studies to life. In the Creature Features class, students learn about Pacific Northwest mammals and the special features that help them thrive in the wild.

With time to explore interactive exhibits and creative spaces, students connect what they’ve learned in class to real animals and environments. Along the way, they discover how animals depend on their habitats—and how they can help care for wildlife in their own community.

This grant is fully funded by STARS supporting museum entrance fees and transportation.
