Student Grant Recipients Total: 21 students

Estimated Award Amount: $98.46

STARS funded Scholastic News subscriptions for Ms. Sellevold and Ms. Bentley’s first grade class, bringing real-world content into the classroom to ignite excitement for learning. Aligned with Common Core State Standards and the Science of Reading, Scholastic News Magazines provide students with weekly opportunities to explore nonfiction texts tailored to their reading levels.

These magazines not only enhance reading and writing skills but also build content-area knowledge and connect learning to students' lives. Integrated as a supplement to the Social Studies curriculum, students engage in activities such as reading the magazine, completing interactive tasks, and using digital resources. Scholastic News creates a dynamic learning experience that supports critical reading, writing, and exploration.
