First graders explore animal habitats and defenses extending science and writing curriculum beyond the classroom
Student Grant Recipients Total: 44Â
Estimated Award Amount: $1247*
Thanks to a fully funded STARS grant of approximately $1,247*, our first graders will embark on an exciting trip to Woodland Park Zoo to explore the wonders of science firsthand. During their visit, students will observe animal habitats and defenses up close, deepening their understanding of the concepts they’re studying in the classroom. This hands-on experience brings science to life, allowing them to connect their learning with the real world. Beyond observing wildlife, students will also practice science writing—documenting their discoveries and reflections to reinforce key skills in a meaningful and engaging way.
